Fernanda Esteves

Clinical Trainee
University of Chicago

Fernanda earned her bachelor's degree at Emory University where she studied psychology; and she will complete her Master’s degree from The University of Chicago in May. Her training is rooted in evidence based methods including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

Fernanda is originally from Brazil, provides therapy in both English and Portuguese, and can converse in Spanish. As an immigrant herself, Fernanda is no stranger to life transitions and is apt at helping clients move through life changes, all while fostering emotional support. Fernanda often works with people who are struggling with relationships. She is well-equipped to help clients deepen existing connections and create new ones.

Fernanda recognizes the strengths in each individual and addresses all issues they bring to therapy in a non-judgmental way. Fernanda has a uniquely warm energy that makes people feel instantly safe, connected, and supported when talking with her. She creates a collaborative space to help her clients change and bring them closer to whatever it is they value most.

Fernanda provides therapy via telehealth to clients located in Illinois.

I create a warm and safe space for my clients, and view our therapeutic relationship as a partnership where we work together to create a life worth living. I am very close to my family, and this has made me passionate about working with clients on their relationships with both chosen and biological family. I grew up in Brazil, so I am no stranger to life transitions and having to adapt to a new culture and environment, and appreciate how our life experiences make us complex and fascinating individuals. I see my clients as experts on their own lives, and welcome feedback on our relationship and work together. In my free time, I enjoy reading novels, making art and spending as much time in the sun as possible.
