Tara Salviato is a Licensed Clinical Therapist who joined the Proactive team after years working at Insight Behavioral Health in Chicago.

Tara helps clients reconnect with and identify their own values, strive for growth and healing, and find confidence within themselves.  She works hard to gain her client's trust, build authentic relationships, and create safety within the therapeutic space.

Tara works with clients to make therapy comfortable and engaging using a variety of techniques including mindfulness, CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy), and ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy).  Tara also engages clients in exposure and response prevention (ERP), written exposure therapy (WET) for trauma, and radically open dialectical behavioral therapy (RO DBT).  Tara specializes in the treatment of eating disorders and includes exposure work for clients with body image disturbances.  Tara has also taken advanced training from Postpartum support international in Perinatal Mental Health and enjoys helping women who are struggling postpartum.

Tara has experience working in higher levels of care where she was the clinical manager of a Binge Eating Disorder program at the partial and intensive outpatient levels of care.  Before becoming a manager, Tara was a therapist at Insight behavioral health residential program.  Tara also spent time as a therapist at a psychiatric hospital in Michigan where she worked with adults struggling with depression, anxiety, other mood disturbances and trauma. Tara earned both her undergraduate and graduate degree in Clinical Social Work from Grand Valley State University.

In my work, my goal is to create a space for you to explore what it means to live your best life. Maybe it's going after something that you’ve always wanted. Maybe it's letting go of fear and finding that person that got buried along the way. Maybe it's squashing those doubts and voices that tell you you aren’t good enough. Maybe it's reconnecting with yourself, setting boundaries or maybe learning more about a life worth living. I use an approach that is rooted in my 7 years of experience, across all levels of care from West Michigan to Chicago. I want to bring fun, and clarity to our sessions while we work towards those tools that allow you to navigate all that life is offering you! I live in Chicago with my husband and son, and when I am not a therapist, I'm typically outside, traveling, trying new restaurants, or reading a book under a blanket.

Location: Tara sees clients in our office in downtown Chicago which is walking distance from both the Metra and the “El” for in-person therapy sessions. Tara also sees clients for online therapy from anywhere in Illinois. Clients from Chicago may choose in-person or online therapy and often visit our offices from surrounding areas including River North, Gold Coast, Old Town, Lincoln Park, Lake View, Logan Square, Wicker Park, Bucktown, Ravenswood, Andersonville, South Loop, West Loop, Evanston and the Northshore.
